Princess Penelope and the Amazons

Part 4: Penny

It had been a few weeks since Penelope had first been dragged into the Amazon camp, and so much had changed for the young princess. Where once she had spent her days lounging around on soft cushions, waited on hand and foot by an army of attentive maids and servants, now she was worked and worked hard by her towering captors.

There were a never-ending list of tasks for a young slave-girl around the camp. She grew used to being summoned by a sharp whistle or shout from one Amazon or another, then pointed at her next chore. It could be washing clothes, or carrying water, or brushing down a dusty tent. All things she'd never have imagined doing . Of course, her life of idle luxury left her poorly prepared for any of them, and she also had to grow used to scoffs and scornful looks when her clumsy efforts were examined.

Sometimes she got a cuff round the ear from her angry supervisor, other times the Amazon in charge of her was not so easily satisfied and she'd have to wait nervously while Mala was called over to punish her properly. These were not the fun, playful swats across her butt her lover seemed to enjoy when they were in the privacy of their tent. Instead, they were long, painful and very public spankings.

She was able to pick things up quite quickly, much to her delight. It was actually kind of fun to listen to the Amazons as she worked and try to understand what she could. As days went by, it grew easier and easier, until she was able to follow most of what the towering women said to each other.

The problems came when she tried to speak it for herself. Harriet never seemed satisfied with her halting attempts to explain herself. She found it so hard to remember the words while her teacher stared coldly at her. Harriet was scornful and sarcastic. The young princess got the sense the other girl thought she was purposefully trying to mess up. Nothing could be further from the truth. Penelope had never tried harder to learn anything in her life. She just couldn't get it. More often than not she'd end the lesson in tears, only the thought of Mala's displeasure stopping her from screaming at her fellow slave-girl.

It would all have been impossible to bear were it not for the joy of what the evenings brought, when she and Mala were alone in their lovely little tent. She realised her hand was still down there and pulled it away like she'd been stung, only to blush hot at how obvious that must have been. \"I was working.\" The young princess gestured at the small pile of empty bowls she still had left to clean. Why hadn't she just finished her work? How could she have been so stupid?

\"Liar.\" Kiri smirked, lingering over the word. \"I saw what you were doing.\" She reached a big hand down between her legs and wiggled her finger, leering at the blushing princess. \"It seems you really are luhiri jara.\" The bully continued, some of her words unfamiliar. Penelope just stared back, frozen in place by the shame clawing at her guts. \"Does Mala not please you, little heifer?\" Kiri asked, stalking forward like a cat.

\"No!\" Penelope gasped as soon as she understood what this mean bitch was saying. \"I mean, yes, she pleases me.\" The young princess blushed even hotter. She'd said that without even thinking, barely even realising what she was admitting to.

\"Does she?\" Kiri sneered. \"It doesn't look that way to me.\" She was standing right above Penelope now, and the frozen princess couldn't do anything but stare in panic and shame up at her towering tormentor. \"I know your kind, little heifer.\" The cruel Amazon continued, leaning over. \"I know what you really want.\" Her hand flickered down and seized the cowering princess by the throat. Penelope let out a strangled gasp as the bully's fingers dug into her flesh. She was too scared to even move, her own hands frozen by her sides.

Kiri's big fingers stroked up and down her skin. The mean Amazon's face was fixed in a cold grin, but her dark eyes burned hot as they moved up and down Penelope's naked body. The young princess realised with sudden sickening certainty that this bully wanted her too, the way Mala wanted her. She choked on the fingers round her throat. Her body was frozen, stuck in place in that awful grip, even as her mind screamed at her to tear free.

The towering Amazon was glaring furiously down at the bully, bulging arms crossed over her chest. \"Step away, Kiri.\" Mala growled. \"She's not yours.\"

\"Karaha dula.\" The bully replied, with a sarcastic shrug. \"You shouldn't leave your pet alone if you don't want others to play with her.\" She stepped to one side, raising her hands. Kiri might be strong and tall as any Amazon, but Mala was bigger still, and Penelope felt a delicious thrill deep inside her as she watched her bully back down in the face of her lover. She wanted to run over and hug her Amazon, but she was still too scared to move.

\"You are Krin ma, Kiri.\" Mala spat, dark eyes blazing with fury. \"Oma das mahana gur. If I see you touching my things again, I'll break you in half.\" Kiri stiffened at the threat, jaw clenching. There was fear on her face, and it was clear she knew this was not a fight she could win. Scoffing, she stepped away back round the tents. Penelope was breathing a frantic sigh of relief, when the bully turned and gave her one last cold sneering stare.

\"Next time you want to touch yourself like that, little heifer, come find my tent instead. I'll please you every way your owner can't.\" She wiggled her fingers and Penelope felt her furious blush return, heat flooding all the way down her neck and chest. As the sneering bully disappeared around the tent, the young princess turned her head gingerly. She lifted her guilty gaze and found her Amazon glaring down at her.

\"Is this true, Pippa?\" Mala asked, her voice low and angry. \"Were you playing with yourself instead of working?\" Penelope froze, a cold chill working its way down her spine. A frantic lie was halfway up her throat before she swallowed it. There was no point trying to deceive Mala now. The way she'd stiffened up and looked so guilty already, it must be obvious what she'd been up to.

\"Um...yes.\" Penelope admitted, nibbling on her plump lip. She felt sick with guilt, like a naughty child being told off by her mother. Her blush was so hot her cheeks felt like they were going to burst into flame.

\"Finish your work.\" Mala growled, jabbing a finger at the dirty bowls. \"I will stay here and watch to make sure you do not take the chance to pleasure yourself. When you are done, I will punish you for this.\"

Penelope grabbed frantically for one of the bowls and scrubbed it with her cloth, desperate not to give her Amazon another reason to be angry at her. There were tears stinging in her eyes, and the cold pit of guilt in her belly made her feel sick. The way Mala was glaring at her like a hawk, it was obvious her lover thought she'd take any chance to touch herself again. She wasn't that kind of slutty girl. She wasn't...really.

Then why had she gone and done it at all? The thought made her sob as she set the bowl aside and grabbed another one. Mala was furious with her now. She knew as much, and her lover had every right to be. Her head was gently lifted up until she was staring up at her Amazon through a mist of tears.

\"Why do you do this, Pippa?\" Her lover asked. \"I give you every chance to be good and still.\" Penelope felt her heart break at the frustration in Mala's voice.

\"I'm sorry.\" She whispered, some of the very first words she'd made sure to learn in the Amazon language.

\"I must be harder on you until you learn.\" Mala growled, cold and angry. The young princess sobbed wetly as her lover reached down and grabbed her firmly by the waist. She was over her towering Amazon's shoulder before she could blink. Mala turned and strode away, carrying the limp, naked princess with her. Penelope cried the whole way back to the tent, her chest sore with guilt.

Mala tossed her in a heap on the furs. She froze at a click of her lover's teeth. Strong hands turned her onto her back, then grabbed both her limp legs and bent them way up until her hips were off the ground. While her lover held here there with one arm, the other grabbed her wrists, one by one and moved them round in front of her calves. Her hands were tied together with a length of rope while her head was still spinning with confusion. She watched tearfully as her lover got up and strode out of the tent without another word. What was happening now? What about her punishment?

The position she'd been left in was a very vulnerable one. Her legs were way up in the air, and with her arms tied up in front of them she couldn't get her feet back underneath her. \"No, please!\" She managed to squeal in her own language. Whap! Then Mala flicked her wrist and the strap of leather cracked across her butt. The pain came a second later, a white-hot line of agony that made her howl and thrash. Whap! Another smack across her plump cheeks drove the air from her lungs. She kicked her legs frantically, desperate to protect her butt. With her hands tied behind her knees, she couldn't even get her legs down low enough to do anything.

\"What will it take to make you learn, Pippa?\" Mala snapped. \"I am tired of this.\" It took the frantic princess a moment to understand the Amazon's words , but when she understood her heart sunk like a stone. \"You work when you are told to work.\" The towering woman continued, every word another frustrated stab into Penelope's wavering heart. \"Kalah tara dur agar. If not for how you looked, I would have given you away by now.\"

\"Please.\" Penelope sobbed through the burning agony, horrified at what she was hearing. She almost screamed when she felt her Amazon's hand on her leg, but Mala didn't hurt her this time. Instead she felt her lover's hard fingers trace down between her open legs. Her eyes bulged when they found her hot sex, still aching with need even after all the torture she'd just been put through. She gasped in shock when her lover slipped a large finger inside her, and again when a hot flush of need made her quiver in her bonds. The young princess only had a moment for her gaze to widen in stunned surprise, before her lover flipped the strap up in one hand and brought it down right on top of her exposed sex.

Instead she watched in misery as her cruel Amazon rose and strode out of the tent without even a backward glance.

The naked princess was left there in the furs, crying and keening. Pain radiated from her tortured sex, joining the burning agony of her welted butt. Far worse though, was the knowledge of just how furious Mala was with her. It was clear her Amazon had lost all patience with her, and she only had herself to blame.

The naked princess lay there for a long time, hot, painful tears dribbling down her cheeks. It was night by the time Mala returned, and it was clear her lover's feelings towards hadn't improved in the slightest. The towering Amazon didn't speak a word to her. Penelope curled up under her fur blanket. She wanted to explain herself, to tell Mala that wasn't what she'd been doing but the way her Amazon was glaring at her she knew it would only make things worse.

Usually Mala dressed her everyday, tying the white skirt round her hips with hands that lingered and caressed her pale skin, making her wriggle with delight. There was something so intimate and naughty about being dressed by another woman. This time, her Amazon tossed the scrap of cloth at her, and she only just managed to catch it awkwardly. Penelope watched miserably as her Amazon handed the rope still tied to her neck over to the waiting slave-girl. The young princess could tell just by looking at her angry lover that any misbehaviour from this point on were going to be punished harshly. She could imagine it now, her furious, towering lover bending her over one knee in front of a crowd of jeering Amazons. \"Really?\" The sobbing princess asked. Her voice sounded so small and sad, but there was a tiny bit of hope in that one word.

\"Yeah.\" Harriet nodded, her hand slipping from Penelope's shoulder. The young princess was kind of shocked to realise how comforting it had been. \"She kind of likes you, even if she doesn't show it much. Don't know how you managed that. She's not the friendliest, even for an Amazon, but it's true.\"

\"But...but...she's so mad at me now.\" Penelope sniffled. \"I...don't know what to do to make her happy again.\"

\"You want to fix this?\" Harriet asked. The young princess nodded miserably, reaching up to wipe away the last of her tears. \"Okay, I guess I'll help you.\" The other slave-girl sighed. \"After all, I'm the one who'll take the blame if you're crying too much to learn anything. You're going to have to start listening to me from now on, okay? I'm tired of everything I say to you going in one ear and out the other.\"

\"Yes...um, yes Harriet.\" Penelope nodded quickly. She felt a flicker of annoyance at the other girl's haughty tone, but even that moment of anger was a welcome change. For a while there she'd been half-convinced she'd never feel anything but miserable again.

\"Good.\" Harriet switched to the Amazon language, speaking the foreign tongue with such ease and grace it made the young princess jealous just to listen. \"We'll talk like this from now on. It'll help you learn quicker if you've got a reason to listen.\"

\"Okay, I'll try.\" Penelope murmured, trying her hardest now to say the unfamiliar words as correctly as she could.

\"First, I need to know what you did.\" Harriet continued. The young princess froze, heat flooding to her cheeks. She couldn't say that. It was way too embarrassing. \"Come on now, I can't help you if I don't know how to fix it.\" Penelope glanced gingerly up at the other girl. Harriet's elegant eyebrow was arched, and there was a curious look in her dark eyes.

\"Um...\" The young princess paused, struggling to remember the words Mala had used to describe her latest naughty act. \"I...um, touched myself instead of working.\" Harriet stared for a few long moments, frozen in place like a statue. Then she started giggling. Her laughter was high and clear, like the pealing of a bell. \"Stop it!\" Penelope scowled, stamping her feet. \"This isn't funny!\"

That, isn't going to be a problem is it?\" She frowned slightly, and Penelope knew she had to back down. No matter how awful it felt to think of her Amazon touching someone else that way, it had been before they'd met. It wasn't really cheating or anything.

\"No.\" She shook her head, rubbing her arm awkwardly. Harriet's gaze narrowed, and the young princess had the uncomfortable feeling the other girl was trying to figure her out. What was so interesting?

\"Good.\" Harriet continued in the Amazon tongue. \"I can understand why she's angry. The Amazons think of us girls from the cities as luhiri jara. Like...a slut, I suppose is the word you'd use.\"

Penelope nodded along, struggling to understand as the other girl switched from one language to the other with effortless fluency. She flinched as soon as it all filtered through. Mala thought that of her? Just because of where she'd come from? But she'd been a virgin, a good girl. She wasn't a former prostitute like Harriet.

\"Why though?\" She asked, her heart aching.

\"It's complicated.\" Harriet sighed. She frowned slightly. \"I asked the matriarch once and she told me a little. It's to do with how we usually sleep with men. They all only like women, you see? \"What can I do?\" She asked miserably. Harriet stared back at her with a raised eyebrow. It took a moment for her to realise what the other girl was getting at. \"Um...I'm sorry, what do I do?\" She repeated, pouting in annoyance.

\"Well saying sorry isn't going to work, no matter how cute you look when you do it.\" Harriet grinned again, flashing teeth. Penelope felt her blush return with a fiery vengeance. Did she say, cute? Was this girl...flirting with her? She wanted to say something, to let Harriet know she wasn't interested, but her voice didn't seem to be working anymore. \"The Amazons are castaran gahara. It doesn't matter what you say.\" Penelope stared blankly at her, not understanding. She sighed and continued. \"They don't think much of just words. You want to show Mala you're sorry, you need to work for it.\"

\"So, I have to try harder.\" The young princess nodded, thinking she got it.

\"Yes.\" Harriet's smile widened. She seemed pleased for once, and Penelope felt some of her wariness towards the other girl ebb away. \"When she orders you to do something, you jump to it. If she decides to punish you again, no matter what for, thank her and ask for more. It might take a little bit, but she'll notice.\"

Penelope frowned. This all sounded a little too much like she was going to have to accept being a slave, accept that she was never going to escape or be rescued. Was that really something that she could do? Sure, she'd bungled along for the past few weeks, but she'd just been taking things day by day, not even daring to think about the future. This was different. This meant throwing herself absolutely into her new life, trying her very hardest to please her owner and knowing that was all she'd ever do with herself.

She was a princess, a girl of royal blood. She'd been born and raised to rule over others. Submitting herself to Mala instead seemed so scary. It felt like she'd be taking a road she wouldn't be able to undo. Could she really accept that this was all she'd ever be? Princess Penelope, the jewel of her Father's realm, reduced to a naked slave-girl for the rest of her life.

\"Um...are you sure this will work?\" She asked hesitantly. It was all too much for her to even try and say it in the Amazon language.

\"I am.\" Harriet replied, and Penelope was shocked to see the other girl looked almost sympathetic now. \"It'll be hard for you, I know, but you've seen what happens if you try to escape. There's no other way. Mala likes you, I promise she does. She just thinks she's got to do this to you, to teach you how to behave. Show her you can be good and she'll treat you better.\" Penelope felt her lips curl into a small smile. Mala liked her. After everything that had happened, she'd been half-convinced her Amazon had grown to hate her.

\"Yes Harriet.\" She nodded eagerly. Harriet was right. This was her only choice. Besides, she wanted Mala to be pleased with her. It had been agony having her Amazon glare at her with frustration and disappointment. She'd suffer through as many spankings as it took to fix that.

\"Okay then.\" The other slave-girl nodded with satisfaction, crossing her arms over her chest. \"Oh, and call her Kallisas from now on. It means kind of like Mistress. She'll enjoy it if you do.\" There was a teasing glint in Harriet's eyes that made Penelope wonder if she was being tricked again, but she decided to accept the advice anyway. It was worth trying. \"Now, I suppose I'd better teach you more about how a slave should speak.\"

The lesson continued on from there. This time Penelope found herself noticing something about her teacher that had never really filtered through before. Harriet was clever, like really clever. She'd clearly had no problems picking up a second language. And she was good at explaining things, better than any of the stuffy, boring tutors Penelope's parents had found her.

Perhaps it was because of their new understanding, but Harriet was also so much more patient with her. She was gently guided through her mistakes instead of being scoffed or snapped at. In turn, Penelope threw herself into the lesson, determined to show the other girl she could be good after all. Okay, maybe she wasn't as smart as Harriet, tough as that was to admit, but she could learn.

\"Um...could I please serve you your food, Mistress?\" She stammered, carefully forming each word under her teacher's expectant gaze.

\"Exactly right, good girl!\" Harriet clapped her hands. Penelope couldn't help but smile shyly back, her cheeks heating with a faint blush. Harriet was older than her, and her teacher, so she didn't mind so much being treated like a child.\"Okay, it looks like we'll have to finish here.\" The other girl glanced significantly over Penelope's shoulder. \"Remember what I told you.\"

\"Yes Harriet.\" The young princess whispered back, realising what the heavy footsteps behind her meant. Mala was back to pick her up. Penelope didn't look back, too worried about what she might see. If her Amazon was scowling at her again, she felt like her heart might break.

\"Harri.\" Her lover's rough voice from just beside her. The young princess flinched as a large olive hand reached over her and grabbed the rope tied to her collar in a firm grip. \"How did she do?\" Mala sighed. The cold anger was gone from her voice, but Penelope's heart still ached at how frustrated her lover sounded. She forced herself to straighten. She had to fix this!

\"Much better today.\" Harriet replied.

\"Really?\" Mala sounded surprised.

\"Yes, she was trying very hard.\" The slave-girl explained, giving Penelope a small grin. The young princess smiled back.

\"For once.\" Mala growled, giving the rope a firm tug. Penelope squealed in shock as she was dragged down, her naked body bent at the waist. \"Thank Harri for your lesson, Pippa.\" The Amazon snapped beside her.

\"Thank you, Harriet, for teaching me.\" Penelope squeaked. Her collar was digging into her neck, but she was determined not to cry or scream. She needed to show Mala she could be good.

\"My pleasure, rich girl.\" Harriet replied, giving her a little wave. Mala clicked her teeth, and before the young princess could say anything more she was dragged back around by her collar. Her Amazon was marching away towards the edge of the camp and she had to jump forward to stop the rope tugging at her throat. Mala was obviously still annoyed with her, but now she knew how to fix things it didn't feel quite so awful.

Her gaze widened with surprise as she realised they were heading to a part of the camp she'd never seen before. There was a large paddock, like the one she'd had to share with the cows. Only this was occupied by four grazing horses. They were massive beasts, all of them, with huge muscled legs. One she recognised as Mala's big, spotted mount. It's head was up, nostrils flared as it sniffed the air.

Mala pulled her through a wooden gate. As soon as they were inside the horse turned and trotted over, tossing its mane. Penelope shrank back, still scared of the massive creature. It felt like the horse would hardly notice if it trampled her.

\"Aya, good girl.\" Mala purred, raising a hand. The horse nuzzled at her, pressing it's long nose into her palm. Watching her lover smile and coo over this brutish beast sent a flicker of white-hot jealousy into Penelope's stomach. She started pouting and stamping her feet before she realised how silly she was being. This was just an animal. So what if her Amazon was being so much nicer to it?

Mala's hand slipped round to the side of the horse's head, and she gently guided the massive beast round towards the side of the paddock. Penelope was pulled along too, but she didn't get any kind words or caresses.

There was a small bucket sitting beside the fence, with a long handled brush inside. The young princess stared at them for a moment. Surely Mala didn't want her to...?

\"Aya needs to be brushed once a day.\" The towering Amazon snapped, glancing over her shoulder to give the young princess a hard stare. \"This will be your job from now on, Pippa. I will watch you until I am satisfied you can do as you are told.\" Penelope flinched at the news. The thought of going anywhere near this massive horse was terrifying. What if it decided to kick her? Then she remembered what Harriet had told her. It didn't matter what she wanted, not anymore. She had to do as Mala said.

\"Yes, Mistress.\" She whispered uncertainly. Mala stiffened, a flicker of surprise passing through her dark eyes.

\"Did Harri teach you to say that?\" She asked.

\"She did, Mistress.\" Penelope admitted, staring at her Amazon uncertainly. Mala glanced away, muttering something under her breath. The young princess only just caught it, but she could swear she saw her lover's lips curl into a slight smile. The sight made her heart soar. Harriet was right! This was how she could fix things!

\"Get to work, Pippa.\" Mala was scowling again when she turned back, but the frustration had left her voice. Penelope stepped forward, staring gingerly up at the massive beast. How was she supposed to do this? It was such a big horse and she was a small girl. Smack! She jumped, squealing in shock. Her butt was stinging hot as she glanced back at Mala, her lips curled into a shocked little pout. \"Work.\" The towering Amazon repeated.

The young princess started forward. She didn't want to get spanked again. The horse snorted loudly as she approached with the brush, making her shiver. She raised the brush and laid it against the horse's flank, gently pulling it through the animal's coarse fur. It watched her closely, head cocked to one side. Was it angry? Or just curious?

The young princess was very relieved when the massive beast seemed to lose interest and go back to chewing grass. This was much easier now she wasn't being watched. Slowly she moved round the horse's flank, brushing down until the spotted fur looked sleek and shiny. It all felt kind of like the way the maids had brushed her own hair, so careful and nervous. Had they been as scared of her as she was of upsetting this animal?

Maybe they had. She'd never been very nice to the servants back home. When they made mistakes, she'd always got so angry at them. She wasn't even quite sure why anymore. Was her hair being a little tangled such a catastrophe that she needed to spend hours screaming at the culprit?

Penelope bit thoughtfully on her lip, knowing it definitely wasn't. What had made her so mad all the time anyway? She wasn't like that anymore. The young princess sighed softly and went back to her work.

She moved carefully round the horse's front and did its other side too. Mala was still watching her the whole time, but she didn't mind. She knew if she did something wrong, her lover would stop her right there and make her set it right. Maybe that should have been annoying, but it wasn't.

Instead she found a strange comfort in knowing she was being looked out for all the time. Back home, no-one had cared much how badly she behaved, how many tantrums she threw or maids she screamed at. Here, if she did anything silly like that, Mala would pull her over one knee for a long, hard spanking. It felt safe somehow, having these boundaries put on her. She wasn't quite sure why, but it did.

Penelope glanced up, realising she was almost done. She brushed down toward's the horse's hindquarters with as much care as she could manage, trying to show Mala she was doing her best. She froze as her Amazon strode up beside her. Mala lent in in, rubbing a hand over the horse's side. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she checked Penelope's work. The young princess felt her throat tighten, anxiously turning the brush in her hands.

\"Good, that was quite good, Pippa.\" Mala said at last. Yes! Penelope wanted to jump for joy. She'd almost forgotten how amazing it felt to be praised by her Amazon, like her whole body got all warm and fuzzy. \"Make sure to do here as well, and here.\" Mala pointed at the horse's mane and tail.

\"Yes Mistress!\" The young princess squeaked eagerly. She had to stand on her tiptoes and reach up to brush out the horse's tail, but she managed. As she was doing the mane though, the massive beast moved suddenly, turning it's head to look at her. She squealed in shock, almost dropping the brush from her fingers. Mala's hand was on her waist before she could even blink, gripping her tightly and yanking her away from the horse. The Amazon's other arm had darted up between her and the horse, holding there in the air. Slowly, Mala reached out and brushed her fingers through the massive animal's mane, cooing softly.

Penelope watched in confusion. Then she realised what must have happened. Mala thought the horse had done something and had pulled her away to protect her. That thought sent warm tingles through her chest, and she couldn't help but let out a small sigh of delight. Her Amazon seemed to notice, and the grip on her waist eased. The young princess glanced up gingerly, a little afraid her lover might be mad at her for jumping like that. Instead, the towering woman was staring down at her with a thin smile.

\"Are you scared of her, Pippa?\" Mala asked, a hint of amusement in her rough voice.

\"Yes Mistress.\" Penelope admitted. \"She's so big.\"

\"She has to be, to carry me.\" Mala chuckled roughly. The young princess found herself smiling too. She really liked the sound of her lover's laughter. \"You don't have to be scared. She's very gentle.\"

\"Really, Mistress?\" Penelope stared gingerly at the horse's huge head. It looked like it could swallow her in a single bite if it wanted.

\"Yes.\" Mala breathed, very close to her ear. Penelope trembled, struggling to listen through the flood of heat running up and down her skin. The way her lover's huge hand cupped her soft belly felt so naughty and possessive, like Mala was making sure she knew who she belonged to. \"Here.\" The Amazon reached down with another hand to a pouch on her belt and drew out a large slice of apple. \"I want you to feed this to her.\"

\"Mistress?\" Penelope frowned in confusion as the fruit was pressed into her small hand.

\"You're going to be looking after her from now on.\" Mala explained. \"I need you two to get used to each other.\" Penelope tried to straighten, struggling with how nervous she suddenly felt. She had to be brave now. She had to show Mala how good she could be. \"Go on.\" A large hand patted her firmly on the butt. The young princess shuffled forward. The horse was staring at her hand very intently. It knew the apple was there, and wanted it. \"Hold your hand up flat.\" Mala ordered behind her.

Penelope obeyed, raising her little hand slowly towards the animal's massive head. It lent in and sniffed hard, sending air tickling past her fingers. Then it opened its mouth and plucked the piece of fruit from her palm, hot lips brushing over her skin. It chewed and swallowed as she watched anxiously, then lifted its head to stare at her with dark, glistening eyes.

\"I did it, Mistress!\" Penelope couldn't help but glance back at her lover and grin with delight.

\"Touch her neck, gently.\" Mala was smiling too, and she pointed at the horse's furry flank. Penelope's hand was shaking as she lifted it carefully. The horse sniffed her fingers, pressing its nose against them. She smiled as it tickled her skin. Feeling braver, she moved her hand round to the animal's massive long neck. It's fur was very soft, and her smile widened as it lent in towards her, pressing against her palm.

\"Do you like getting petted?\" She asked, brushing her hand up towards its long ears. The horse whinnied, lowering its head as she scratched at its scalp.

\"She likes you.\" Mala purred behind the young princess, sounding very pleased. Penelope kept rubbing the horse's head, grinning to herself. Suddenly this wasn't scary at all anymore. She stared at the big horse, admiring its long, pretty lashes and broad back. It was a very beautiful animal, even if it was way too big. Slowly she let her hand drop, giggling at how the animal lowered its head for more petting. “Good girl, Pippa.” Suddenly Mala’s big palm was on her head, ruffling her hair. Penelope wriggled with delight, standing on tip-toes to press her head into her lover’s hand. She loved when Mala did this, it made her feel so safe and warm.

“Thank you, Mistress.” She whispered, her heart aching with gratitude towards her fierce Amazon.

She'd be furious if she knew.\"

\"Sorry, Harriet.\" Penelope murmured nervously. The last thing she needed was to give that wrinkled old bitch another reason to be angry at her. \"I was looking for Mala.\"

\"She told me to come find you.\" Harriet sighed. \"We must just have missed each other.\" Penelope nodded, letting herself be led back to the tent she shared with Mala. Harriet slipped inside, pulling her along to the pile of furs where she'd slept. They sat down together. Harriet straightened expectantly, obviously hoping they could begin their lesson but the young princess couldn't forget what she'd just seen.

\"Oh.\" Penelope murmured. So it wasn't about her after all. She hadn't even known her Father was trying to stop the Amazon raids. No-one told her anything back home.

\"Enough of that.\" Harriet lent forward with an eager smile, switching effortlessly to the Amazon language. \"How'd it go yesterday with Mala?\" Penelope blushed hot as soon as she understood.

\"I think the whole camp knows that.\" Harriet smirked, raising a teasing eyebrow. \"Leave us, Harri.\" The towering Amazon said, with a glance at Harriet.

\"Yes, Mala.\" Harriet scrambled to her feet and darted for the door, but not without giving Penelope a little wink that made the young slave-girl blush furiously. As soon as she was gone, Mala strode over and collapsed into the furs with a weary groan.

\"Are you alright, Mistress?\" Penelope asked carefully.

\"Yes, Pippa, I'm fine.\" Mala sighed, spreading out on the furs. It didn't look that way.

\"Yeah, I caught a glimpse of her earlier.\" Harriet lent in, her voice a low whisper. \"She's pretty, but kind of arrogant-looking. Young too. Only your age maybe.\"

\"Oh.\" Penelope lent back over her vegetables, not wanting to give Yurin an excuse to shout at her. Her mind was racing as she cut awkwardly at the carrots. She really hoped this envoy didn't recognise her. What kind of fuss would it cause if her Father found out his eldest daughter and heir was trapped as a slave-girl to a tribe of Amazons? No doubt he'd send his knights straight away to rescue her.

Penelope frowned to herself. She knew she should want that, want to go home to her home and family, but she'd already made her peace with what had happened to her. Penelope stood on tip-toes, trying to see past the trio of towering Amazons to where the Kingdom's envoy must be.

Mala stepped to the side, going for one of the chairs. Behind her, Penelope saw a knight in full armour, a pale woman with raven-black hair. The same one who'd been meeting with the matriarch before. Not the envoy then, but her guard.

Kiri moved next, slinking round the table like a snake. The matriarch turned, waving the pair behind her forward, and Penelope finally saw the kingdom's envoy. A girl, just like Harriet had said, around her own age, if a little younger.

She was tall and slender, with long blonde hair the exact same golden colour as Penelope's own. Cold, blue eyes flickered up, like shards of gleaming ice, then pale lips moved, mouthing two words the young princess could read even from this distance.

\"Hello Penny.\" The envoy sneered. Then she smiled, like a wolf scenting blood.

\"No.\" Penelope gasped, her heart going cold in her chest. She should have known. Should have guessed. It felt like a kick in the guts and yet it all had been so obvious. She'd been too scared and too stupid to even think that this could happen.

\"What is it?\" Harriet asked, giving her a worried look. \"What's wrong?\"

\"That's...my sister.\" The young slave-girl stammered, the words cold in her tight throat.

Author's Note: Dun dun dun! Grace returns, and she has plans for Penelope. Just when things were going well.

I felt like things were moving a little too slowly so I skipped quite a lot of time in this chapter just to get Penelope in a place where it would have the most impact dropping this on her. I also wanted her to be able to speak to the Amazons but would rather not waste time writing about pretend lessons in a pretend language that doesn't even make any sense. Let me know if you think it works, or doesn't!
