Moira looked at Pilar in the same manner she might regard a mannequin
dressed in garments she did not approve of. Or perhaps a bush with
bad twigs that needed to be removed.

A cincher had been tightened around Pilar's waist, compressing it to
almost impossible proportions. On top of the cincher, a metal band had
been wrapped around her waist, replacing the chastity belt used earlier;
This new device designed for pure torture.

A slim metal tongue pointed down the band's front, ending in one
appendage resembling a large fork. Where each end had a wire running
down between her legs, small metal fangs sprouted along the wires.

These caused a great deal of distress to the unfortunate girl. The middle
wire was the worst, as it ran straight over her clitoris.

Beside the perils to the intimate parts, Moira had invented a novel
way of humiliation. The gag she had used on Pilar was yellow, with
a smiley printed on the front. The subjective gaiety the smiling emoticon
provided, stood in sharp contrast to the violent session the slave had
been subjected to.

Moira used the winch to hoist Pilar into the air, then turned around
to pick up a new device from a nearby table. It was basically one thick
anal hook, the end was however not just a simple ball, but had one
inflatable section attached, which Pilar knew soon be used to cause
her a huge degree of discomfort.

Pilar stared at the device that was held up in front of her face, knowing
that she could only make the insertion less painful by cooperating.
So she leaned forward to let some saliva drip down to add lubrication.

Moira spread the saliva and turned the hook over with her rubber-gloved
hand, while Pilar tried to follow the motion with her head to add more
moisture so that the upcoming insertion would go more smoothly.

“I like the scent of your fear,” Moira said, while looking Pilar into her eyes.

Suddenly Moira's face was distorted, then replaced by a similar but
different face though wearing the same fetish uniform, Pilar's vision
distorted while the room was drawn out to impossible proportions.
Then everything went black.

Pilar waited, while she still were in her submissive mindset she handled

the situation as it were a session of sensory deprivation, and from her

perspective the darkness and complete silence was exactly that.

A faint flash followed, replaced by a text glowing like phosphenes in

Pilar's vision: 'ICN ultraband connection lost.'

Pilar automatically moved her hand to a touchpad and also sent

the safeword via her implant. The electronic circuits recognized
both as a command for an instant emergency cutoff, effectively
terminating the simulation. Pilar was left with her mind spinning
as a result of the hasty disconnection and disorientation from

the abrupt transfer back to the real world .

The ICN network she had been using was an addition to the communication

system that used artificial wormholes to provide near instantaneous

communication between the human colonies scattered among the stars.

As the technology matured it first made it possible for politicians, scientists,

and the ultra-rich to use robot avatars as stand-ins to attend conferences

and hold business meetings in other planetary systems via virtual reality

links.

Over time, such telepresence became more widely used, including news

and entertainment. While no one could physically visit a distant planet,

this became a popular tool for viewing museums, desolate places, and

controlled environments via remotely controlled avatars where instant

reaction time was not required.

Even when quantum entanglement and computers was used to provide

enormous processing power over very secure and stable connections.

The response time were always a limitation, any action in virtual space

or a remotely controlled robot would come with the prize of a small delay.

The tremendous gravity force surrounding the wormhole portal meant

that the communication hubs had to be placed at a secure distance from

any settlement or planet, so any action would always have a delay of a

few seconds so the signal to could travel the full path before the user

could see the result.

This with the exception of hardcore gamers and others who for various

shady or even nefarious reasons needed the advantage of a lag free

connection and used a space elevator or spacecraft to get as close to

the wormhole portal as it was possible to go.

As the technology matured, it also incorporated smell and tactile senses,

allowing tourists from remote locations to fully experience new

environments with surrogate androids, and to go on vacation to places

they would be unable to visit in their regular body.

Those androids would also suffer from a bit of lag, but this still gave a

rebirth of the mass tourism from a previous era. Now androids could

be shipped together in buses and airplanes, while they were kept away

from places and situations where they might cause any chaos or mishap

from their delayed reaction time.

Meaning that resorts, museums and major landmarks would have a

curfew from the general population to host an android day now and then,

when interstellar tourists would visit and see things in their own pace.

This technology did however come with a side benefit, as the sensory

input not necessarily needed to come from a real source. The senses

could also be provided with synthetic input to create novel simulations

indistinguishable from reality.

So in this age, there were descendants from Earth living on various

planets who shared experiences and constructed worlds together.

What anyone looked like in the real world didn't matter in the least

to anyone.

With fantastic landscapes painted in bright colors and dramatic
events that were unlike anything they'd encounter in their mundane
regular existence, some made the choice to live and experience a
larger part of their lives in simulations rather than in the real world.

While many was happy with just exploring enormous virtual fantasy

worlds. Others would indulge in wild sexual activities without risking
any harm to themselves.

And this was the area Pilar and Moira had used, in a section of ICN's

virtual world designed for those who preferred more adult activities.

For obvious reasons, this online sector was dubbed Darkside.

No one but a few academics considered the risks and dangers that might
arise from the use of these virtual realms. But the eggheads were shunned
for their alarmist viewpoints, until one day the events and activities in the
virtual realm began to bleed over to affect the physical world.
